 RSTLIB and Journaling
I am doing a SAVLIB of our Production Data Libraries creating SaveFiles on our Production iSeries, then thru FTP, transferring the SaveFiles to our Development iSeries, then doing RSTLIBs. During the RSTLIBs I get a CPF7085 - Journal QSQJRN already exists and CPF3756 - JRN QSQJRN not restored. It was my understanding that doing a SAVLIB then a RSTLIB to the same named library would restore the Journal, Journal Receiver, and Data Files. Am I missing something in this process ? Thanks, Bill Poulin

Answer Wiki:
The RSTLIB command will attach the files to the existing QSQJRN. There should be no need to save/restore the journal. Perhaps keeping the receivers is necessary? If you really want to restore the journal and receivers you'll need to delete the existing journal first, then the receivers. Then restore the Journal Receivers, Journal, then files, finally start up the journals again. Here's a link for Journal recovery that may apply: <a href="http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/index.jsp?topic=/rzaki/rzakijrnrecovery.htm">http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/index.jsp?topic=/rzaki/rzakijrnrecovery.htm</a>
