I want to learn about procedures in RPGLE. I asked some senior of mine about procedures, he answered that for understanding I need to learn modules and all in ILE...kindly guide me what all I need to know before going for procedures, main procedures and sub-procedures.
Thanks

In general, all you need to know is how to code in RPG IV. If you know the language, then you are ready for procedures and sub-procedures.

You probably need to download and look through the ILE Concepts manual. ILE isn't the same as "procedures and sub-procedures".

Procedures are not as complicated as it may sound at first.  You need to understand how to code PR (prototypes) and PI (procedure interfaces).  Think of them like the old *ENTRY parm list but with more power.

Personally, I find that procedures actually simplify a program.  The local variables contribute to that.

Check out some examples to get started.  Bob  Cozzi has posted a number of good articles on the topic.
