It’s hard to decide what a “best” book is. Do you already know OPM RPG? Or have you used RPG on any other system? Do you have ILE RPG where you work and you want to learn about it? Are you looking to get a new job and want to try working with ILE RPG? Are you being given work projects that require ILE RPG knowledge? What model is the system with ILE RPG that you’re involved with? What version of operating system is involved?

I’ve never relied on any books other than the IBM manuals. No other books will have more authoritative information.

But that’s not always a good definition of “best”. IBM manuals might not be what you want to learn from.

Can you give a little background on how you want to use the books?
