The scalability issues faced by the internet and service providers in general will not be resolved by the wider adoption of IPv6. In fact the adoption of IPv6 is more likely to make us focus more on scalability.
The internet is basically a victim of its own success in a sense. It has grown in size at a phenomenal rate and with its growth has come more complicated deployments and technologies like multi homing and VPNs. As we roll out IPv6 there is also the potential for billions of mobile devices, this means a larger routing table for starters. As the internet routing table increases in size so do the memory requirements in routers.
