Yes you should be able to do this. Just make sure to disable the DHCP Server.

Do not use the WAN port (Internet connection) for cross connecting between the old router and your new router. Use just the four (4) switch ports. Depending on the system you may need a crossover cable or adapter to connect the two routers together. You can test without a crossover connection and see if it will work. If not, a crossover cable/adapter is required.

In the past, a crossover cable was used to chain switches together. Newer switches may auto detect if a port is chained to another switch and act as a crossover adapter. Some switches only do this with a specific port or have a button to manually change the mode of a specific port.

Hi, how do you disable the dhcp on the befsr41 v2.1, which port do you connect the wire to router, and what ip address do you use to connect to the router.

how do you disable the dhcp on the befsr41 v2.1   Follow instructions in BEFSR41 User Guide (support/download site) for DHCP settings.   which port do you connect the wire to router   It depends on what device you are connecting. Use instructions in the BEFSR41 User Guide to choose the port.   what ip address do you use to connect to the router.   Use the address given in the BEFSR41 User Guide .   Because you're asking about V2.1 and it's so old, the download only supplies a "Quick Install" guide. But everything you ask is covered.   Tom

For the original question, I would expect that a BEFSR41 could be used as a switch but not as a hub. Someone with more detailed knowledge might describe how hub functionality could be obtained. -- Tom
