Rogue Character After FTP'ing

Tech support, Servers, Desktops, Windows 2000 desktop, Windows 95/98, Integration with other platforms, PC/Windows Connectivity, Technical support, TCP, Microsoft Windows, Development

I FTP a file from the AS400 to a Windows 2000 server and there is a carriage return and line feed character at the end of the file.

How do you get rid of it?

Specify "Ascii" mode transfer rather than "binary".
Just enter "ASCII" or "BIN" on command line to switch modes. Default varies with different FTP packages.
Microsft uses "Newline" rather than "CR/LF" used by AS400 and most Unix Systems. Most ftp packages will automatically convert these if run in "ASCII" transfer mode.
