roaming profile creation on a computor not on a domain
Well if my subject heading wasn't enough just read on.
We don't have our computers on a domain (as yet). today a user logged in and her desktop was changed to a brand new one one would expect for the first time logging in to the machine. I found that a profile "username"."computername" was created but she was not on the domain. I deleted it since she had a local profile already. however when she signed back in to her computer the machine recreated the "username"."computername" profile and logged her in with that.
what happened? it seemed like a registry setting corrupted or something.
any solutions on the how to fix?

A) Are you XP or 2000? Without a domain all logins are processed locally. Changing from one machine to another requires creating a new profile on that machine. RightClick My Computer and choose properties or use "System" in the control panel. In XP, User profiles are controlled on the Advanced tab, (like Performance and Statup & Recovery). That is location of the registry entry for local versus 'roaming'. The kicker to this is user access (Who is allowed to login) is handled by "Users & Passwords" in the control panel. If the user is not listed there and you are not a domain then they should not logon successfully.
