Do you use RFID technology in any aspects of your organization -- security, mobile device management, asset management, etc.? How do you use it and why?

My current shop doesn't really use RFID. Just a PC with wireless AS/400 connection in the W/h. Prior shop did a variety of things: short-range scan guns to feed info to nearby workstation in lieu of using keyboard, long-range RF throughout the W/h (less reliable & hard to repair so being phased out), and "brick" scanners (for cycle counting) that dump to a PC (via wire) with application to pass to AS/400 to update inventory. Not sure if you're looking at fancier stuff, but these simple RF uses worked well. Not in our organization so far. I dont think its going to make it to the profit center level in the near future.
