 Retention period for unstructured files
A SearchStorage reader recently asked: I am trying to determine a general retention period for unstructured files that don't have leagal requirements. These would be those files that users ask to be restored because they accidentally deleted it. I was wondering if you have a chart that depicts the frequency of requests for restores of this type? I seem to remember seeing such a chart that showed most requests for a file to be restored occur in the first 10 days after initial creation.

Answer Wiki:
make SLA-Agreements with your departments ... so you're sure you're in target :=) I'd propose Tivoli Storage manager - but CommVault is not too bad either. regards, volker ps: tracking versions of living versus tracking last version of a file should be treated separately ....
