 Results of two wireless clients logging into the same network with the same static IP

If two wireless clients log on to the same network and both have the same static ip configured for the wireless adapter and they log on at the same time what will happen? Will either be able to use it? Or both intermittently? Is there a way to protect from this? We use static ips around here for reporting.

The same thing will happen to wireless clients that happen to wired clients which have duplicate IP addresses. Connectivity for those two systems with be problematic and will include unreliable connections and intermittent loss of connectivity. You can still use "static" IP addresses with DHCP - these are called reservations. DHCP reservations make it easy to change IP parameters (gateway, DNS, WINS, TFTP, etc.) in bulk without having to visit each client computer.

My guess would be which of the two machine who answered the arp request first. You can setup reservation for the computers on the dhcp pool for each machine.
