Restoring shadow copy files from recovery console Windows Server 2003 SP2
Is it possible to restore shadow copy files from the recovery console? Windows Server 2003 SP2. I need to access a previous version of a file and the system will not start up. I am open to any ideas or suggestions.

Volume Shadow Copy is a new technology in Windows Server 2003 that did not exist in Windows 2000 Server. VSC has some limitations so if the system didn't startup then it is better to take help from Recovery Console. VSC doesn't work on some dependent situations like .... If the volume became corrupt then there would be no way to use volume shadow copy utilities. Volume shadow copy works if Windows is functional. If system crashed or not to startup, it may not functional and volume shadow copy are designed to restore one file at a time, so it is not suitable to handle large no of files.
When all are gone, Recovery Console may help. It is used even system cannot boot into safe mode.
It starts like.... Boot with 2003 bootable or setup cd / dvd and start the setup. When the text-based setup begins follow the prompts and choose recover by pressing R.
