how to restore a savf? i have transfered a savf file from v4 to v5 using ftp? now i want to extract the objects?

If the *SAVF contains a library, use RSTLIB xxxx *SAVF
If the *SAVF contains a file, use RSTOBJ as recommend by Jintelk

    Be sure to create the SAVF on your iSeries BEFORE you FTP the SAVF to it, or else you will end up with a corrupted Physical File instead of a SAVF.

    ...or else you will end up with a corrupted Physical File instead of a SAVF. I never create the savefile first and I never end up with a PF that is not a SAVF. It's not required to create first as long as you are transferring a file with a .SAVF extension in BINARY mode with NAMEFMT 1. Note that you can also FTP to a /root directory and then use CPYFRMSTMF, and that also only requires a .SAVF extension. Tom
