Restore Sharepoint

SharePoint, Sharepoint Designer, Backup & recovery, SharePoint backup

We have just upgraded our server to 2008, before the upgrade I made a backup of our Sharepoint site with Sharepoint Designer. After we completed our upgrade and re-installed Sharepoint Services 3.0 (after alot of trial and error) we tried to restore the backup. Every time we run the restore it fails after a few minutes with an error that it cannot find an .xml file. What do I need to do to get the restore completed?

Hello Dav3,
I hope you created a backup (like NTBackup or similar) before the upgrade; with this you may recover the needed file that was, for unknown reasons, skipped by the backup procedure you used.
Bye

NTbackup does not work well with the Sharepoint database. You will need a backup/restore utility that is Sharepoint aware to fully restore pointers and rights.
