 restore MBR
I have a copy of MBR (512 Bytes) on a thumb drive. How do I actually restore it to a system that won,t boot?

Throw your installation disk into the drive (XP Vista or 2003) Start like you are going to do another installation. But don't worry we won't. If you have the recovery console installed you can just boot to that and skip to the FIXMBR command. On the first screen of the Windows Setup program, select "R" and on the next screen, select "K" to run the Recovery Console. Now, enter the following command fixmbr If, after re-starting, the hard disk is still not able to be booted, you can also re-create the boot sector in the first partition. In order to do this, return to the Recovery Console and type in this command fixboot c: If you need more help let me know!
