Is there a library to identify?

If it's a *SAVRST tape, even from a S/38, it should be identifiable as such. If the tape was generated from another OS, things get a bit more interesting.

IIRC you'll need to use OVRTAPF prior to the CPYFRMTAP. There may be lots of trial and error to get the parameters to align correctly for your needs. Sorry that I can't give you more guidance on this, but it's been a couple of decades since I was faced with a similar situation.

Hi Tom,

Sad to say buy no one could answer this, since all the previous employers have retired.

Possibly it came from system 38 or mainframe???
I'am trying to use command DSPTAP, RSTOBJ, COPY FROM TAPE (but could not identify the library)

I am having a hard time restoring data from migrated tapes...

How were these files put on tape? What system put the files on tape -- what operating system? What command are you trying to use to review or recover the data?
