Resolving drifting clock on virtual machine

We've noticed our virtual machine's clock drifts pretty significantly. We've looked at some documentation to fix it but nothing fits the bill (including updating regularly via NTP).

Does anyone have anything that has worked well for them?

You did not say what kind of virtual machine it is.  Is it part of a Microsoft domain? Typically in a domain you setup one server as the time server and then all of the other server get time from that time server through Active Directory.  The DC acting as my time server is a virtual and it is work well.  Google "setup a time server in active directory".

If this is not an option, then try changing the time server that NTP is accessing.  I had to do this when my NTP server started drifting.  I found that the assigned time server on the internet was down.  You can get a list from Nist.gov.
