Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Sign off the console and then from a different device:

VRYCFG CFGOBJ(DSP02) CFGTYPE(*DEV) STATUS(*OFF)
RNMOBJ OBJ(DSP02) OBJTYPE(*DEVD) NEWOBJ(DSP01)
VRYCFG CFGOBJ(DSP01) CFGTYPE(*DEV) STATUS(*ON)

Search400.com member "JohnDavid" offered this advice: Two options: 1. From another display vary DSP02 off and rename the device description for DSP02 to DSP01. Make sure that the address of the console is correct - port 0 address 0. If this does not work then ... 2. From another display vary DSP02 off, switch DSP02 off (power off), delete the device description for DSP02, ensure that QAUTOCFG is set to 1, and ensure that the address of the console is correct as above, power the console on. This should create a new device description DSP01. Check that DSP01 device description does not exist - delete if so. Best regards JohnDavid

Only comment I have is basically "Why?" What possible difference can it make what the name of the console is? Now, maybe that's not what the real underlying issue is. Maybe it's really some confusion. E.g., maybe it's a twinax console that supports dual device descriptions, and someone switched over to the secondary device. And the real question is "How do I switch to alternate devices on my console terminal?" If so, then some info on what kind of terminal hardware is involved would be useful. Tom
