Requirement to set up a LAN and a WAN
This is a Civilian emergency services plan a 5 day strike. The existing communication structure can not be used. Therefore I have been tasked to provide CIS support at a number of locations Tasks I need to produce a plan for a LAN to accommodate 50 users and up to an additional 40 if required. location Leeds. I have also 3 further locations where there is London 20 users, glasgow 5 users and manchesterr 10 users these networks all need to be linked to form a wan. My solution should support data, voice messaging and VTC. Current equipment: Leeds A server installed with windows nt4 PDF and a second server installed with microsoftexchange server 5.5. There is a small telephone exchange with 28 local and 2 external lines. The link between Leeds and and London is via a 128 kbits ISDN with V90 dial up 56 kbits modems as back up. London A local stand alone server is used for storing the data. There are also 10 standard external telephones lines. Glasgow One computer with a remote access connection to Leeds via a V90 dial up 56 kbits modem Manchester 2 networked computers one of which is configured to connect to Leeds via a 64 kbits ISDN line. Summary The equipment meant already in place may be used in full or replaced. Solutions should be future proof where possible. Cost should be considered but not seen as a limiting factor A maintenance policy should be considered. This is not a homework question it's a requirement for the military. Thanks Please could you advise

Leeds A server installed with windows nt4 PDF…

What exactly is “windows nt4 PDF”?

…support data, voice messaging and VTC.

If this is (a) military and must (b) support elements including VTC, you have a lot of background to get up to speed on. I suggest starting with Wikipedia’s H.323 article and beginning the job of going through its supporting documents. There’s a bunch of stuff that needs to be considered before anything will make sense.

You might also run a Google search for [ VTC network diagram ] to have some visual props to give you a better foundation. You might then be able to compare each existing piece of equipment and software to have an idea what can be used and what needs to be replaced.

This isn’t a trivial exercise. It has to start with research. It’s possible that once the VTC is handled, most of the rest will naturally fall into place.
