 AS/400 report takes too long to print

I have created a invoice on my as400 with a overlay. I send this to a printer and it takes very long to print. The file size is 28kb. Is there something i can do to make it print faster

How long a wait?? What printer? How many pages. Loading the overlay to the printer takes the time Generally it takes only a little more time to print a print file with 50 or 100 pages. So, if you can batch the invoices the printing time won't be as objectionable. Phil If your time is spent waiting while the overlay is merged with the text adding more memory to the printer will help. Lovemyi

At my place we found that certain printers took a hugely long time to print using overlays, but others were very quick, with exactly the same overlays and spooled files.

The problem appears to be the printer’s internal memory. If there is not enough, the printer is constantly flushing the overlays and re-requesting them.

The only solution we have found is, get a printer with enough memory to hold the overlay images for the duration of the job.
