Hello, I have this question: 2 Domino server: 6.5.1 on W2k3, 5.0.7a on Win NT4.0; the connection is VPN over public internet; I scheduled several replication with connection document using a new blank db, but I'm not able to replicate changes in design elements, only changes in documents... The ACL is correct, in both db replica that I used for test, the servers and the group servers are "manager", but when I see my log I found this error: "Unable to store document in SERVERB/OU/O testrepl.nsf (NoteID = 350) from testrepl.nsf (NoteID = 318): Remote system no longer responding" but Ican see also the correct replica of new or modified documents. When I control the replica on remote system, the documents was replicated, but not the design elements... Thank You for any suggestion, Maurizio

Hello,

I’m a bit unclear of your intententions here, what exactly are you trying to replicate between the array of servers you’ve mentioned? Just data files or some type of domain configurations?

Please elaborate so we can better answer your question.

Thanks!

Hello, thank you for your interest; I will try to better explain my problem: I noted in my environment a problem with scheduled replications between the 2 server mentioned above: the error mainly is "remote system no longer responding"; I looked into VPN without find any issue; so I stopped all the scheduled replications except one for test: I created a new simple db (a form and a view) with right ACL (manager for server), I manually replicated the db to the remote server with success, I created and modified some documents and the scheduled replica was ok, but when I made a change on a form, looking the replication events in my log I found the error: "Unable to store document in SERVERB/OU/O testrepl.nsf (NoteID = 350) from testrepl.nsf (NoteID = 318): Remote system no longer responding" and the change in the form was not replicated... That's all, Regards, Maurizio

Hello, So it is my understanding that you are running some sort of database application and have it configured to replicate data between two servers, as a method of redundancy should one system go down. Your problem is then, that the replica server is not getting the changes to the db because it can no longer see the master? If that is the case and from your description, I would focus my attention on connectivity between the two servers in question. Confirm your servers can see each other first. This takes any network issues out of the picture, then focus on the method used for database communications and the software settings of the application that govern replication. Hope that helps!

Hello, thank you for reply, I don't understand why the "master" server, despite the correct manager rights, can't write design changes to db in remote server, but only write new or modified documents, like if it had only the author or editor rights, not designer or manager... This behavior is limited to scheduled replication... Regards, Maurizio

Hi Maurizio, Can you confirm that your test databases have an Administrative server set? If there isn't one it may confuse the replicator as to which version of the database is the 'master'. You'll find the setting under 'Advanced' in the ACL settings. Hope it helps Dave
