Is there a way to rename a Windows XP machine without unjoining the domain (joining a workgroup) then rejoining the domain?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Sure… All you need to do is in right click my computer, go to properties, computer name, change, then enter in the new computer name at the top. You’ll need Administrator’s permission to do that and you’ll need to reboot for it to take affect.

A more difficult, but scriptable, process is to use Netdom. See the link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298593
