 Renaming a machine without unjoining and rejoining the domain?

Is there a way to rename a Windows XP machine without unjoining the domain (joining a workgroup) then rejoining the domain?

Sure... All you need to do is in right click my computer, go to properties, computer name, change, then enter in the new computer name at the top. You'll need Administrator's permission to do that and you'll need to reboot for it to take affect.
