When it's plugged into the server it should show up in MyComputer with the next available drive letter assigned to it. If you don't see if there open up Computer Management and under disk management see if it's there but without a drive letter assigned to it.

The follow-up to this would be to assign a drive letter that is not already in use accordingly. When you check disk management, you will also be able to determine if the device is ready for use. That is if it has already been partitioned and formatted.

In certain situations the removable mass storage device takes the next available drive letter but its not the way you’d logically assume it would.
FD = A:
HD = C:
CD = D:
Network mapping = E:
Network Mapping = F:
One would assume G: is the next available drive letter. In those certain situations the drive mappings do not count. The next available drive letter is E: for removable storage. Disconnect E: mappings and restart with E: empty and then the removable storage is seen on E:.
Not always the case but have seen it happen for what ever reason.
