Hi I am the administrator of a network with about 70 computers running win XP (workstations) and win 2000 advanced server (Servers). I have a domain controller server.How is it possible to install (deploy) patches and updates forom server to workstations remotly? Thanks esfandee@gmail.com

If all you want to do is push out OS Patches then look into SUS from Microsoft. If you want to push out patches for applications, such as Word, or programs from other companies, like Acrobat Reader, then you will have to look into other programs. There are many of them ranging from basic ones like Sitekeeper up to enterprise products like Microsoft’s SMS.

    Office patches can be installed by start-up scripts if you decompress the patch into it's MSP files and the ohotfix file. Other software can either have the patch attached to the group policy software installer you originally rolled the software out with, or you can use start-up scripts. Buying extra software to apply patches is sheer laziness.
