Windows Small Business Server 2003. When I run Rsop from the Server against any client pc(all XP SP3) I get RPC Server Unavailable. Firewall is disabled, exceptions are allowed, all releated services are started. If I run rsop from a client machine against another client machine it works fine. Totally baffled!! I have 2 customers with this exact same problem.

Do you have permissions to the target system with the ID used to make the query? Is the RPC running on the target system? Is DCOM enabled and running on the target system? One of the issues I faced was the the SharedAccess security descriptors corrupted during Windows XP SP2 update. No RPC or any other type of remote access as this foobarred DCOM until fixed. kb892199 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892199 Found this interesting read on a similar issue with RPC http://geekswithblogs.net/jemimus/archive/2005/01/19/20374.aspx
