Remote Desktp accesing problem

i am having problem while accessing my win xp system through remote access . I was accessing my system through remote access it was running fine then . Yesterday i have installed internet explorer 8 beta and also taken my system into backup with norton ghost . and immidiately after that i am not being able to use remote access to my system. so after that i have also removed the ie-8 but still its not resolved. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Check your firewall and security settings. See if you can roll back to a previous system restore point. This will really do a better job of cleaning out IE8 than an uninstall.

See if you can Ping the remote system. If it does not respond, as above, check your firewall settings. If it does respond make sure that the “<b> Allow users to connect remotely to this computer </b>” setting is checked in the <b><i>remote tab </i></b>of the My computer <b><i>properties</i></b>. Also check that you are listed in the “Select Remote Users” button. Note that if you are the admin you already have permission here, but still need to have remote desktop enabled.

Have you changed from DHCP to Static or vice versa addressing lately. If so, the other workstation might not even appear to the other.
