Labnuke99 I am running on a cisco2800 router on a corparate network with static IP’s and gateway. Need to access the network/ my PC from remote desktop with MSTSC.Do i have to open a port on the router to my IP address.

If this is a company network, are you also in charge of the edge firewall? You will need to permit RDP (tcp port 3389) through the firewall. A better way of doing this would be to use an application like LogMeIn or ShowMyPC to gain access without having to open the firewall and map an IP address to the client system.

I think Labnuke99 is right, try a remote access software. many are free or have free trials, and the better ones also provide multi-layered security systems to comply with your company’s standards.
