Reliability and Factor analysis using SPSS
Dear Sir/mam,

I would like to ask some questions regarding the use of SPSS for statistics analysis:

1. In examining the reliability of the measures used in questionaires, do I have to calculate the measures of Independent variables separate from dependent variables, so I have two Cronbach's alpha scores? or do I need to calculate the measures of both independent and dependent variables in the same time, so I only get one Cronbach's alpha score?

2. In conducting Exploratory factor analysis using SPSS, I get the output i.e. table of Component matrix and Rotated Component matrix. There are positive and negative values (Scores) of factor loadings in these tables. In selecting the variables that underlying the factors, do I have to consider both [strong]positive and negative values[/strong] of factor loadings?  Or do I only look at the highest [strong]positive[/strong] factor loading?

Thank you very much for your help.

Kind regards,

Amie
