Is it possible to reindex an extenal dbf file via linked server ?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

A DBF file is typically a dbase file (where dbase is a specific database platform seperate from Microsoft SQL Server). I suppose that it’s possible that you could fire off a command via the linked server to create or modify an index via a linked server to the dbase system, however that wouldn’t be recommended.

What database platform is the remote database?

Database platform is plain dbf file (dbase ver 4 or 5) used in scada hmi application to store various definitions. There are many tools that perform this action interactively, but i want to perform this operation via linked server. I did not find command line to that can be activated by xp_cmdshell .
