If you delete a contact it goes into your deleted items. Check there. If it is deleted out of there then it may be in your recover deleted items folder if this is an Exchange account. You do not have to edit the registry to see the recover deleted items folder when you click the deleted items folder. The dumpster always on allows you to see “recover deleted items” on every folder in Outlook, not just the deleted items. Also, the recover deleted items is only on if this is an Exchange account, and you do not say if this is an exchange account or not.
