I have a Notepad++ file and it said the file has been changed and would I like to reload. I pressed yes but it was a big mistake. I shouldn't have done that. Can I recover the state before I reloaded it? Thanks for the help.

Possibly. You do not say if you have any sort of file recovery software, like Recuva. In notepad, it does not open the original filed, it opens a copy of the file in memory, and that is where the copy is stored. When it is saved, it deletes the first letter of the original file and then places the copy into free space. If you have not done a cleanup and defrag of your system the original file minus the first letter of the file name is still there in what is now free space, and has not been overwritten. This may not hold true though if you have used your machine alot. Recuva is a free utility from Piriform and there are others available.

"It said the file has been changed", What changed was there? Is there an error message, that is not revealed here. Actually this is confusing. What mistake was there? Did you reinstall the notepad++ again? You can try to recover the file (if any) if there is any backup.

Since you chose yes. I do not think there is a way to undo that as the file used to restore overlay the current.
