there is a place where you can define your send and receive..that is where you will set your settings. from there you can set the timing when you would like your emails to come in too

That "place" is at the top of outlook. There is a button for "send/receive" and a drop-down arrow to the right of it. From the drop-down select "send/receive settings" then "Define send/receive groups". You can make the changes there.
