I don't know of a way to prevent a document from being printed.

To prevent it from being edited , you could protect the document.

In version 2003:

- Go to "Tools" -> "Options"
- Click on the "Security" tab, and set a password in the "Password to Modify" field.

In version 2007:

- In the "Review" section, click on "Protect Document", and set the desired protection settings.

You can also set NTFS permissions to prevent the document from being changed.

Hi there,

As far as I know, if the document can be opened, it can be printed. “Read-only” means you can still edit and print, just not save the changes. You might need to add extra permissions to the document (eg, a password) that only allows certain people to access it. Other than that, there is no real way to prevent the printing of a document.

Thanks,
Jenny

Even if there was a way to disable printing the doc within an application, there is still the possibility of being able to use cut and past to copy the data into a printable document, or at the very least using screen capture to create a printable image.

Good Luck!
