Note that RCLSPLSTG should not require “system maintenance mode” (which I assume means ‘restricted state’.)

“RCLSPLSTG should not require “

can you explain me ,why RCLSPLSTG is not require or you mean to run RCLSTG instead.?

If you have the authority to run RCLSPLSTG, you can run it any time of day, from any workstation. The system does not need to be in restricted state.

RCLSPLSTG mostly just removes unused space from the file objects that spooled files are stored in. It is not the same kind of operation as RCLSTG.

I would recommend that any significant management function be run during quiet times of day. There are always potential risks whenever such processes are running. The less spooling activity that is going on, the less the risk. (The risk is apparently extremely small.) Also, the less activity anywhere in the system, the better your process will run.

But you don’t need any special setup before running RCLSPLSTG. It simply isn’t required.
