have conigured server with hardware raid 5 and loaded with server 2008 r2 but it is hanging frequintly

The type of storage under the server really doesn’t matter as slow storage won’t cause the server to hang. It is probably being caused by a service running on the server. Try disabling each service that you’ve installed and see if you can stop the hanging problem.

    What are your server specs? If it's a fresh install, it is likely a hardware issue, but you should also check the system logs for errors as Carlosdl said.

    You have not provided enough information regarding your setup. For example, if you are running a SBS 2008, then there is a known issue with VSS and Exchange 2007. You can look at Microsoft KB articles 961775 and 968621. But without more details of you exact setup, software installed and hardware used, there is no way to point you in the right direction. Start with the basics like Carlosdl said, but I suspect that you will have difficulty interpreting the event log files.
