Q:
Raid 0 Migrating - RAID mode in BIOS causes BSOD
I have a Dell xps 420 that came with Vista 32 bit. I have switched over to Vista 64 bit (and as far as I can tell updated all my drivers). I want to run raid 0. I would like to use the Migrating feture and avoid having to do a fresh re-install. The issue I am having is every time I enable raid mode in the BIOS, Windows blue screens on boot up. I have used raid 0 with the 32 bit vershion before. One thing I think may be causing this but not sure what to do to fix it is since installing the 64 bit vershion I am not able to install "Intel Matrix Storage Manager" I get the error "This computer dose not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software" this program is listed on dells website as being for dell xps 420 with vista 32 bit or 64 bit. I have the Intel ICH9R chip set could the drivers be wroung for it? I tryed to fined updated drivers on dells site for it and intel and saw nothing.. the driver vershion I have installed for the ICH9R is 6.0.6001.18000

You are getting a blue screen because the raid controller is not 64bit compatible. This is installed when you install windows and press F6 to install additional drivers at the beginning.

Now that I have windows installed, can I add the 64 bit raid controller and use the Migrating feture to set up raid 0 without having to start over? And were do I get the raid controller ?
