 Quick FTP server setup in my network
FTP management, FTP Server, Network management, Network server software
If I need to set up a quick on-the-fly FTP server inside my network, what do I have to do? I have several 2003 and 2008 servers. Will I need any outside 3rd party software or can I do this with just the operating system? I would like to be able to use the servers or ad accounts but if I have to use a 3rd party application, are there any cheap or free ones available?

windows machines have ftp as part of IIS features. you can configure it to use active directory for authentication purpose. I believe server 2008 will give you more security features for hosting ftp service.

I would utilize Filezilla FTP Server which is quick and easy to configure and setup. Plus it’s FREE. They also have a ftp client (free) as well.
