That seems the most likely explanation. But I’ve never seen a test of whether any of those will run properly, perhaps run at all, if they don’t match the OS level. They should be very dependent upon the version of DB2 which is integrated with the OS.

It’s certainly possible to create licensed products that follow their own version/release numbering scheme.

Try the products to see what happens. And, if any run, watch for any messages in QSYSOPR concerning licenses after the products are first used.

Also, looking at the LICPGM list of installed products, see if those are listed as *COMPATIBLE, *ERROR, *INSTALLED or some other value. The value you want to see is *COMPATIBLE, but one or two others can indicate at least partially working products.

One more question.
On the 520 V6r1 box, If I do go licpgm and see “5722qu1, 5722qu2,& 5722st1 ID’s” (not the 5761 or 5733 ID’s) does that mean the box was upgraded from V5R”X” to VR1.
Can the V6R1 still use the V5R’X’ Product ids’?

I know of (almost) no good reason for ever including 5761QU1 as long as 5761ST1 is going to be there. Everything that can be done with Query can be done with Query Mgr, plus much more. And some things that can be done with Query can’t actually be used without running the query definitions through QM anyway.

Now, the “(almost)” part is for the 5733QU2, Web Query, product. I haven’t run across information that shows how to obtain Web Query without also having Query (QM didn’t qualify for some reason; maybe someone has updated info though).

What is the difference between the 3?

STRQRY is a system command that brings up a menu that has most or all of the entry points into various kinds of queries. You can run GO QUERY and get to the same system menu.

WRKQRY is a command from the Query product that brings the options for working with queries from that product — create, change, print, etc. It’s the only useful entry point into those queries. (The WRKQMQRY command from the SQL Dev Kit does the same thing for queries from the QM product.)

STRSQL is a command that comes with the SQL Dev Kit product. It provides an interactive SQL facility where you can enter and run interactive SQL statements essentially from an SQL command line. It includes prompting facilities for many dynamic SQL statements.
