From the IBM link in the answer:
    • If you lose or forget the passwords for both the QSECOFR OS/400 user profile and the QSECOFR service tools user ID, you may need to install your operating system again to recover them. Contact your service provider for assistance.
There should almost never be a need to know the QSECOFR password because you should always create a second *SECOFR profile for regular use as soon as the system first comes active. If QSECOFR is needed for logging on due to IBM's instructions, the secondary *SECOFR profile can then set QSECOFR to any active state that is needed. In addition, a secondary service tools profile should be created and should be used for regular service work. If neither of those has been done, then the IBM documentation probably gives your answer -- you may need "to install your operating system again". Tom

I created a small CL program to reset the QSECOFR user profile password and create it under QSECOFR with usrprf(*owner) and it sends me a message (security if someone else tries to run it w/o asking).

I created a small CL program to reset the QSECOFR user profile password and create it under QSECOFR with usrprf(*owner)... That's handy to have available. It should be authorized for use to some manager user profile and restricted. Of course, it has to be created already at the time it's needed. You can't create such a program unless you have sufficient authority. If you have sufficient authority (in a profile you can sign on under), you don't need the program at that time. Tom
