I agree with CharlieBrowne. Why are you purging libraries? It can be a good time to run various purge procedures. General cleanup is a good practice, and version upgrades can provide some planned system down-time.

But nobody can say how (nor if) any purging of anything should be done on your system.

Some specific examples of what you want to accomplish might help us.
