Going to Fix Central presents a Product Group selection dropdown list; selecting IBM i and clicking Continue presents an Identify Fixes page, with the option of Individual fix IDs. If you know the PTF you need, I'd suggest using this to locate and download the fix.

The best way might be simply to download the current PTF packages a couple weeks after they're made available, but apply them after the next later packages are released. That way you'll always have a current set immediately available in case it's needed, but you can still have them applied according to your policy. (By waiting a couple before downloading, you allow some time for defective PTFs to be located first.) Apart from these (Cum,GRP& HIPER) PTFS,How can i find any other higly recommended PTFs for a Specific Release or irrespective of Levels? The HIPERs are the "highly recommended" PTFs. Of course, that might not be very useful to you. If you have to stay a level behind, then your "highly recommended" PTFs will always be behind anyway. The policy to stay a level behind doesn't make much sense. The HIPERs have already been demonstrated as both 'High-Impact' and 'PERvasive'. The usual reason to stay behind is to avoid defective PTFs. But defective PTFs are rare compared to the number of HIPERs. So the policy tells you to ensure that your system runs in a known broken state just in case some new PTF might break your system. You increase your risk with the "stay behind" policy. Tom

(By waiting a couple before downloading, you allow some time for defective PTFs to be located first.) Tom,i didn't get this..The only reason as i know for staying level behind is not to bother about defective PTFs..But your point make sense too..! Can i apply CUM,GRP,and HIPERs all at once with one image catalog? or first i need to apply GRP AND HIPERS and then CUM followed by IPL.?

i didn’t get this..The only reason as i know for staying level behind is not to bother about defective PTFs. I wrote a typo. It should have been "By waiting a couple weeks before downloading...". After a couple weeks have gone by, other sites around the world will have downloaded the PTFs and applied them. Defective PTFs are usually found fairly quickly. Larger sites might apply them to test systems/LPARs. ISVs will try to verify that their products still work properly. And some small sites will simply grab a PTF package because it happens to be available when they request one. The Defective PTFs PSP report for your OS version can be checked to see if any new ones have been discovered. Tom
