As an IT admin, can you do the email migration from on-prem Exchange to Cloud Exchange for all your users without their involvement? Can I handle the PST migration? How would it work with a 100 GB (large amount of data) of PSTfiles?

Answer Wiki:
You can handle their mailbox migration. Users must handle their own PST migration. With PST files, it's a simple copy, so it's whatever your bandwidth will allow. You just copy them over and re-attach them to the new Outlook profile. Typically you dont need to move PST files themselves. You just reattach them locally. Our migration tool will move mailbox for you from Exchange

If you are moving to the cloud, I would rethink the use of .pst files. PST files are intended to be stored locally on a client PC outside the Exchange Mailbox. The concept of the cloud is that everything is managed off site to eliminate the need for local management. If you maintain PST files locally, you are defeating the purpose of cloud computing. OST files could be used as a local copy on the PC if you are concerned about being disconnected from the Cloud. OST files are automtically synced with the mailbox so there would be little or no maintenance needed locally.
