Prompt for password on Linux mail server

Dear I have uploaded a file by ftp on web and kept under /var/pub in my mail server (Linux version-4). Now want, when user put that URL i.e. ftp://mail.arafapparels.com a password shall prompt and when password would match then user can have access. You will need to disable anonymous access to your ftp server, but how to do that will depend on what is your linux distribution, and/or what FTP server software you have installed.
