Promoting a machine(part of a domain) to a new domain controller
I have a machine(which is not the domain controller and I have only remote access to this machine) on a domain X, now I tried to promote this machine as a domain controller (domain name Y), during which this machine got disjoined from the domain X. I had logged in as a user from domain X when trying to install AD on this machine and after the installation and reboot, I could no longer login as this user. Can somebody let me know which user i should use to login after installation to login to this machine.
I don't know the local administrator password,so can I create another local user(add it into the Administrator Group) and use this user to access the machine after installation. I am completely new to setting up this.

Answer Wiki:
On Domain Controllers, there are no longer local administrator account. You will need to use admin credentials from domain Y.

Just to clarify: Currently, the machine is not part of domain X, but it has not joined domain Y yet. Is that correct ?

It is not part of domain X and become domain Y as I can see the domain Y alone is listed in my list of domain for login, but I don’t know which user should i login as.

If it is indeed joined to domain Y use a domain amin account from Y. If you are not part of Y you will have to have the informatrion from a machine local accont to log in.
