problems with printer in s36

we have boca printers for printing tickets ... when we disconnect printers and reconnect it again a lots of messages appears in the message q say "unable to obtain lock on device" we tried vrycfg , wrkwtr , and other commands we tries also to change the writer configuration it says " prtxx not eligible for change " it takes sometimes hours to work agian i think something wrong with the system values any help ????

    In the S36 environment, can you do a vrycfg devd  type *reset?  Can you wrkobjlck on the devd and see what had a lock on it?  One old trick is to endwtr, vrycfg *off, turn off pwr to writer, turn on pwr to writer, vrycfg *on, strprtwtr.

    Are you physically disconnecting and reconnecting? If so why? Is your system set to auto config devices?  Maybe the printer address is getting lost. Check out the vary on device command and check the F4 prompt to see if there is a reset option. Just a few ideas that came to mind.
