Problem with user profile windows xp on windows server 2000

Hi Team, I am facing one issue with my organisation like the user profiles are duplicating and its reating like as user1.00,user1.001 .So There are lots of profile with same user can you please let me know what is the reason of this and is it issue with domain?

Need to know what’s powering your problem

am using windows xp as client and in my organisation windows2000 is using as server.This is happening only for limited client machine only.I believe this is one kind of virus.

    So, did you scan the machine for viruses already ? When did this problem start ? did you change something in the client or the server ?
