Hi, I use a Dell Poweredge SC440 as the server in my office. It runs Win 2003 Server Standard Edition as the OS. Recently, we bought a new server dell poweredge 2800 which we are now using. my problem is this: I wanted to demote the SC440 so it can be used as a workstation, but the active directory will not remove. instead, i get the error message "there are no more end-point mappers from the point you specified" ( I didn't specify any end-point mappers). Alternatively, i tried re-installing the OS, but i also get the error message "Windows did not detect any hard disk on this system" (the SC440 runs a virtual disk system). So, what do I do? How do I get Windows to "see" my hard disks? and how do I remove the Active Directory?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Did you promote the new dell server as a new domain controller? Once you do, make sure to move all the FSMO roles over to it. Once that has been confirmed, you should run the standard Ad health checks. Once it all checks out, then you should be able to demote the server by running dcpromo via the run command.

As per the SC440 and not detecting the hard drive you may need to use nlite to have the approrpiate scsi drivers installed during installation. Nlite will help create a new iso (windows 2003 source files needed).
