Is this an Exchange account? Is this a POP3 ISP account? What troubleshooting have you done so far? If this is a POP3 account have you tried doing a scanpst on it? An informative answer depends on the details you provide. Please provide more details. Thanks!

You may want to reconfigure the user information through e-mail settings for your Outlook. If all else fails remove the current settings you have and try to reinstate the connection with fresh information. Kind of an odd way to go about it but that has solved a few of my Outlook errors here.

What type of settings are you using to connect?

This is a POP3 account with blueyonder/virgin. The POP3 element send and receives but the smtp will not do anything

Try adding a verification when connecting to the other server. There should be a checkbox that you can mark that will allow you to use the username/password you have stored in outlook to verify that you send and recieve from the same server.
