problem with navigation in oracle forms using the ‘tab’ key

Oracle Forms
we use oracle forms as the front end for a banking software and the users encounter a problem when they try to create a new record from the from the end. Whenever the users try to navigate between the fields by using the 'tab' key the system just does not respond and kinda hangs right there. No error/override messages are thrown-up as well. At other locations where we use the same banking software with the oracle forms users seldom face this problem. But at our end we have this problem and the users have to kill their session to get rid of the issue and have to make sure that they don't use the 'tab' key henceforth. We are not sure where exactly the problem is. In fact we are wondering if there is a fix for this 'tab' key navigation issue if at tall we deem it as a bug

Hello Gnvraghavan.

I don’t really think that is an oracle bug. I <b>would think </b>it is some logical error in the application itself.
There are many ways in which an application could cause this hangs, including item triggers (when-validate, post-change, post-text-item,etc.), block triggers, form triggers (key-next-item and others), timers, etc… One event could trigger the execution of some code, and this code could fire some other triggers, and so forth, and this could lead to a cyclic trigger firing; and sometimes it is really hard to find the bug.

I would encourage you to meticulously review you app’s code.

Regards,
