Hi there guys,
I recently got hold of a Hawking HWU8DD High-Gain Wireless-G Dish Adapter (Rev.B), But I'nm having a bit of a problem installing it.
The software on the CD installs fine, but when I connect the device to the PC and it detects the new hardware to install, it fails to install the "802.11g Wireless USB2.0 Adapter", saying the system cannot find the file specified, and so the detection process starts again, returning the same error. Upon further investigation using the Device Manager, I can see when I connected the device an unknown device came up as "USB2.0 WLAN" for a few seconds and then dissapeared. thinking it was the port, I connected i to another USB port and saw that both "USB2.0 WLAN" and "ZyDAS IEEE 802.11g Wireless LAN - USB#2" appeared for a few seconds, then decided to vanish. I eventually tried this with all the USB ports, but the same problem kept coming up except the numbers on the end of "ZyDAS IEEE 802.11g Wireless LAN -USB#X" was replaced with 2,3,4 and so on while I was trying the other ports out. Curious about the brand name being displayed, I went on the Hawking website, downloaded the software and driver package for my model (Which was the ZyDAS utility instead of a Hawking Technologies one) and installed it but the same problem was coming up.
Would this be a problem with the USB Port or the driver I was downloading/using? Plus, how can I see what network adapters I have installed, so I can clean it up?
Thanks in advance and best of luck in the new year, ac
Sherman
