 Problem with Cisco router
I have a old 3660 cisco router. IOS is 11.3

it has got a 8 port WAN card.

The problem is, with live media the port goes up but line protocol remains down.

the cables, connectors and ok I have checked those with other router and they work fine with other routers.

So any idea............

thanks in advance.

What type of media? Possibly a clocking issue?

That was my thought as well :-)

If connecting to another router back-to-back, check if the interface cable is the DTE or DCE. If it is the DCE then use the interface command clock rate as one end needs to generate a clock otherwise the interface protocol does not come up. If it is connecting to your service provider then they should provide the clock and your interface is a DTE (so no clock rate command), but it does need the correct protocol (HDLC, PPP, Frame-Relay or whatever).

Agree with both gents: Check the clock rate / Port / Protocol configs…
